I’d like to start off by wishing everyone a wonderful New Year, and hope it brings everything you wish for. Your troubles few. And your happiness bountiful.
I know for many, 2022 was a real challenge. Myself included. Due health and other reasons I won’t go into, pretty much everything went on hold. My main WIP (book draft); this blog; entering writing competitions; amongst other normal non-writerly things. I’m not normally one to wish time away, but am glad to see 2022 disappear in the rear-view mirror.
To those who have had a tough year, I hope 2023 is a complete turnaround for you.
Writing wise, there was a positive though. The one sole short story I wrote was long-listed from 1100+ entries in the Australian Writer’s Centre’s Furious Fiction competition in June. I was so happy you’d think I’d won, ha ha! It certainly was a win for me.
So, what are your plans for 2023? I’d love to hear! It doesn’t have to be writing related. Let’s be each other’s inspiration and support.
For me, I’d like to expand this blog to include other topics. A lot will still be writing related, but I’ll branch out into some other areas as well. As all my blog posts appear on one page, just click the Category list to browse your interests. Not to get too far ahead of myself (baby steps) – I have a full-time job outside the writing industry, so plan to post at least once a month if you want to check in every now and then.
Of course, I’m desperate to get back into my main project. It’s been so long; I’ll have to re-read everything I’ve written so far to get a feel of where I was up to!
Have already started getting back into my reading. In fact, I treated myself to a load of books at Christmas. Have recently read Matthew Perry’s memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, and I’m half-way through Ben Bravery’s memoir, The Patient Doctor. Both truly inspiring, and heart wrenching for different reasons.
Well, just a short post today to say hello, and yes, I am still here, despite my lack of on-line activity in 2022, which I hope to rectify in the coming months.
If you have goals and aspirations of your own, let them be fruitful, fulfilling, and a path to new adventures.
Cheers!
